Lights, Camera, Action… Transfusion Medicine!


As we enter the eighth month of Transcon 2025’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, August invites us to bring out the lighter, livelier side of Transfusion Medicine. Celebrate the fun, creativity, and behind-the-scenes magic of Transfusion Medicine.

This month’s theme, “Blood Reels: Lab Life, Reel Life: TM with a Twist!” encourages all transfusion professionals to capture the joy, teamwork, and creativity in their day-to-day work through fun 60-second reels set to popular songs. Whether it’s dancing in the blood centre, lip-syncing during component prep, or syncing a crossmatch with a beat drop, this theme is all about celebrating the spirit behind the science. Because yes, even in lab coats and gloves, we’ve got swag in our blood!

Reel Submission: August 1st - 25th, 2025

  • Best Overall Reel: ₹5,000 + Certificate

What to Do?

Create a 60-second reel showcasing the funniest, quirkiest, or most inspiring moments from your day-to-day in the blood centres — syncing it with popular or relevant music. Think donor room stories, QC battles, crossmatch chaos, or accreditation day energy. Let the beat tell your story!

How to Participate?

  1. Create a Reel (≤ 60 sec) showing a fun TM moment.
  2. Sync with relevant/trending music.
  3. Add a catchy caption!
  4. Ensure professionalism & patient privacy.

Judging Criteria:

(e.g., technical personnel, doctors, nursing staff, donors) – More the merrier! 		25%

Note: Entries will be awarded additional credit for inclusivity, especially those that showcase participation from multiple staff categories and stakeholders across transfusion services. Whether it's technical teams, clinicians, nurses, support staff, or voluntary donors — more the merrier when it comes to celebrating the spirit of Transfusion Medicine together!

General Rules

  1. Eligibility: Open to all professionals, students, and technical staff in Transfusion Medicine across India.
  2. Conference Registration: Registration for Transcon 2025 is mandatory to participate in the Blood Reels contest.
  3. Reel Duration: Maximum 60 seconds.
  4. Original Content: Reels must be original and created specifically for this contest.
  5. Language:Hindi and English are preferable, however, any language is allowed but subtitles in Hindi or English are mandatory in this case. Content must be clear, respectful, and relevant.
  6. Music: Use trending, popular, or blood bank-themed music (royalty-free music is also allowed).
  7. Privacy & Ethics:
    • Do not display patient information or identifiers.
    • Adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards.
  8. Professionalism:
    • Content should maintain the dignity of the profession.
    • No mocking or derogatory portrayal of individuals or hospital systems.
  9. Dress Code: Proper attire required – e.g., lab coats, scrubs, or institutional dress code.

Technical Guidelines

  1. Reel Properties: File size should be less than 100 MB. Resolution should be up to 1080p (Full HD); 4K resolution is not allowed.
  2. Video Format: Instagram Reels (portrait format preferred).
  3. Audio Quality:Music/sound must be clearly audible and appropriately matched.
  4. Video Quality: Stable, sharp, and well-lit footage. Avoid excessive text.
  5. Subtitles: Mandatory for all non-Hindi reels (in Hindi or English)
  6. Violations:of patient privacy, use of plagiarized or previously published content, use of inappropriate, offensive, or unprofessional content will lead to disqualification.

Welcome to the TRANSCON 2025 Monthly Theme, where we’re putting the spotlight on what’s next in Transfusion Medicine. We are doing pitch-style innovation competition with flair, curiosity, and a little scientific mischief.

Theme: “Future Transfused: Where Ideas Circulate”

We’re looking for:

  • Novel Patents/Ideas: If your idea requires a lab coat, a legal team, and maybe a secret handshake, send it our way. Bonus points if it comes with a catchy code name like “Project DonorCULA.”
  • Futuristic Concepts: Think beyond the blood bank. Think nanobots as RBC, lab-grown RBCs, or even real-time hemovigilance via wearable tech.
  • Unique Innovations: Weird? Wild? Wonderful? We want it all.

No idea is too outlandish – as long as it has a pulse.

Why Participate?

Because the future doesn’t build itself. It takes dreamers who dare to ask, “What if we had a blood bag that talks back?” (don’t make it too chatty.) the word limits is 1000

Objective

To encourage voluntary blood donation Transcon 2025 is initiating one of its kind visually compelling and online blood donation-driven “Tree of Life,” where each act of donation adds a new leaf to a digital tree. Make Our Tree of Life grow, share your blood donor celebration photograph with us.


Campaign Duration

1st to 30th of June 2025

Key Concept

Each donor (individual or group) submits a photo of themselves donating blood or engaging in blood donation awareness activities.

Each submission becomes a leaf on the digital “Tree of Life.”

The tree starts with one leaf in the shape of a blood drop at the beginning of the month and grows leaf-by-leaf with each contribution, symbolizing life, unity, and generosity.

Each leaf includes the donor’s/ person’s/group’s name and message of encouragement (optional).

Rules & Guidelines:

  • The participants must be ISBTI members and registered for Transcon 2025.
  • Selection Criteria – Relevance to the theme & clarity of photo
  • Before submitting the photo, the entrant is responsible for taking all steps necessary to protect the right of publicity and other rights of persons depicted in the work, including but not limited to obtaining their permission, to avoid any problems related to the infringement of these rights
  • Organizers will assess the entries for suitability for adding to the Tree of life
  • The decision of the organizers will be final and abiding to all.

Transcon 2025 is dedicating month of April 2025 to Wise Wednesdays Webinar series on different topics in the field of Transfusion Medicine & Transplant Immunology, designed to provide you with valuable insights and practical strategies with the overarching goal to build community among researchers. This series will explore newer developments in the branch and giving knowledge bridge spanning the country.

Theme: Seeing the funny side! Humour in Transfusion Medicine
Unleash your creativity and humour in the Transfusion Medicine by participating in Transcon 2025 Meme Contest! Stand out with witty, creative, and relevant memes on one of the photos provided.

This fun and engaging event is all about spreading seeing the funny side of Transfusion Medicine through memes. Express your wit and imagination in a light-hearted way!


Your submission must be submitted as a digital image using one of the following formats: .jpg or .pdf. The images must be high resolution (at least 300 dpi). Submissions are limited to one image per participant.

Rules & Guidelines:

  • Originality: Memes must be created by the participant and the participant has to ensure that their meme does not breach or be in violation of any copyright or other rights of third parties. Plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
  • One Entry Per Participant: Each participant can submit only one meme.
    • The participants must be ISBTI members and registered for Transcon 2025.
  • Language: Memes can be in English, Hindi or Bilingual.

Category 2: Caricature/Cartoon Contest

Theme: खुलकर जियो खुलकर हसाओ | "Live Freely and Laugh Heartily"
Design a cartoon strip or caricatures that highlight our 50 years of journey into the world of Transfusion Medicine.

Your cartoon/ caricature must be an original creation and you must be its sole author. Your cartoon cannot have been published or displayed elsewhere (e.g., personal blog) prior to its entry into the competition.

Your cartoon may contain one to six panel(s), with no more than four panels in a row. You may produce the cartoon using any method or medium (e.g., painted or drawn on paper or drawn on a computer/tablet) but your cartoon must be submitted as a digital image using one of the following formats: .jpg or .pdf. The images must be high resolution (at least 300 dpi). Submissions are limited to one image per artist.

Rules & Guidelines:

  • You can participate with ONE ENTRY per delegate.
  • The participants must be ISBTI members and registered for Transcon 2025.
  • Entry is limited to original works that have not formerly been released as any printed, web-based, or other medium and for which the entrant holds all the applicable rights.
  • The entries will be evaluated on the following criteria: a) humor and b) creativity/ artistry. Artistry refers to the manner in which your imagery advances your idea; scoring well in this category does not require you to be a skilled artist.
  • Language: Can be in English, Hindi or Bilingual.
  • We will not accept any video entries.
  • Respectful Content: Offensive, controversial, or inappropriate content will not be accepted.
  • Before submitting any work in the contest, the entrant shall be responsible for taking all steps necessary and should not hurt the sentiments of any person or community to avoid any problems related to the infringement of these rights.

The theme of the contest is Inspire In our daily professional life we sometimes come across a scene that leaves a mark in our minds and serves as an inspiration to us.

LET'S CAPTURE THIS MOMENT ON OUR CAMERAS

Take a photo that captures a moment that inspires you in the field of Transfusion Medicine. This may not be limited to blood donation pictures only! Let your imagination unfold.

Contest Start Date: 1st February 2025

Contest End Date: 28th February 2025 11:59 hours

Entrants were encouraged to take a photo that captures what inspiration in the field of Transfusion Medicine means to them, and submit it along with a photo entry form and email to [email protected]

The photograph should be given a caption in English language subtitles. Transcon 2025 encourages photographers to share their story about their connection to the photograph, how they were involved and what memories they have of their experience in maximum 75 words. Only one entry per delegate. The participants must be ISBTI members.

  • Images generated by AI are prohibited.

Photo Guidelines: For Acceptance of Entries

  • Image data files created with a device capable of taking still images.
  • Images that have been retouched by using camera apps, photo editing apps, other software, etc. except AI generated images will be accepted.
  • English language subtitles are to be included for judging the photos.
  • Image data file format: Only 1280*720 pixels or more shall be considered.
  • Entrants must hold all applicable rights of the final image, including any retouching or other image processing.

Results

  • A committee will be judging the entries and after the evaluation of the entries concludes, the winners will be notified through their registered email address and announced on Transcon 2025 official website.
  • The decision of the committee will be final and abiding to all.
